Jose Cera, B.A (he, him, his) is a graduate student in the Department of Counseling & Educational Psychology at New Mexico State University. He is finishing a master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and will be graduating in May 2020. His research interests include social perceptions of grief and loss among ethnic minorities, pathology of grief, and identity at the end of life.
Jose is a counseling intern and his experience includes providing mental health services in the school and inpatient setting. He uses an integrated approach towards counseling while incorporating methodologies from person-centered therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and motivational interviewing. Jose’s clinical interests include student mental health, trauma, grief and loss, and career/academic guidance. Currently, he serves as an Academic Advisor, and Coach for cheerleading in the local community.
